Watercolors

Freedom of expression and individual choice is the universal challenge in a society which too often dictates who we are and how we act. The eternal judgmental eye of our peers has a crippling effect on personal development. 

This group of paintings addresses this issue and the ensuing struggle. The painful if not altogether violent attempt to break free from societal expectations. I choice watercolor as my medium specifically for its qualities: watercolor by nature is fluid, boundless and uncontrollable, the very opposite of what is experienced when confronting expected conformity.
