Acrylics

These small acrylics are a collection of paintings where I celebrate the beauty, diversity and serenity of nature. I set the figure in an imaginary landscape where it and its surroundings overlap and intertwine, becoming inseparable with the flora and fauna around it. 

I like playing with the versatile qualities of the acrylic paint which the smooth surface and bright white of the bristol board enhances. I start out by making a mess, then pull out a leaf here or a  face there until a story begins to unfold. Alternating the application of thick then thin layers of paint gives depth to the image and choice of color helps balance the composition. Each one is a fun adventure as I never know where the painting will take me.
